Elevated tees and lush fairways lined by thick stands of live oak and pine are hallmarks of this beautiful course.The course winds through a pine forest where thick stands of live oak and pines line the fairway. Sixty-six bunkers are well placed off the elevated tees and guard undulating two and three-tiered greens.
Numerous dog-leg fairways, accented by strategically located mounds and fairway bunkers, call for well-planned tee shots. The greens vary in size and their well-defined tiers place a premium on precise approach shots. Hole #6, a par 3 with Port Royal Sound in the background, has been recognized by many as one of the most spectacular holes on Hilton Head. Oyster Reef most recently was awarded the Lowcountry Golf Course Owners Association "2006 Golf Club of the Year".
