Winyah Bay Heritage Festival
A celebration of art, decoys, hunting, fishing and conservation in the Winyah Bay area. Events include over 50 exhibitors, children's decoy painting and fish printing, storytelling, retriever demonstrations, art and conservation exhibits. The SC State Championship Duck Calling Contest will take place on Sun., Jan 18. Featured artist is Wendy Allen, environmental educator, angler, artist and manager of the North Inlet-Winyah Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve. She will be featuring the art of gyotaku (Japanese fish printing). Featured lecturer is Dr. Dale Rosengarten, noted author, who will present "Grass Roots-African Origins of American Art" at the Strand Theater on Sat., Jan. 17. Special reserve tickets are required. Events will take place in the Georgetown Historic District.
