The Furman University Golf Club closed May 12, 2008, for a major renovation of all 18 green sites, bunkers, and six new tee boxes by Kris Spence. The course re-opened October 1, 2008 to high praise. The South Caroloina Golf Course Ratings Panel has recently rated the course in its Top 30 You Can Play list. The club surpassed 400+ other course for this honor. The new design is a Donald Ross style that will follow the flow of the beautiful land that the golf course lays on. The renovation produced a first-class course that lends itself to be very fair and playable for the average golfer, but challenging for the low handicapper.
